Collect 30 minutes from Lisbon Airport. Late flight? Self check-in means you can still drive off tonight
Lisbon puts the whole middle of the country within a morningโs drive. Sintra is about 50 minutes, the Arrรกbida coast 40, Ericeira and the surf an hour, รbidos an hour, Nazarรฉ an hour and twenty. รvora and the Alentejo plains are an hour east, and the Algarve is a straight two and a half hours down the A2 if you want to finish in the sun.
Parque Comรฉrcio e Indรบstria, Armazรฉm 11
EN Estrada do Pau Queimado 5, 2870-100 Montijo
On the south bank of the Tagus, across the river from the city. About 30 minutes from Lisbon Airport by taxi, Bolt or Uber, over the Vasco da Gama bridge, usually โฌ20 to โฌ25. Worth knowing before you plan your first day.
Check in any time from 14:00. Check out any time up to 11:00. On weekdays during normal hours a member of the team meets you, hands over the van and walks you through how everything works.
At weekends and for late arrivals it is self check-in. We send you everything you need in advance: where the van is, how to get in, a walkthrough video and our phone number. There is no counter to reach before it closes, so a flight landing at 23:40 is not a problem. Most rental depots near Lisbon shut around 18:00.
Check-ins from 17:30 carry a โฌ20 late check-in fee.
Camper rental in Lisbon from the same fleet we run in the Algarve. The same five mini campervans, the same equipment, the same rates. Four sleep two, the Bohemian sleeps three, and all of them are small enough to park in an ordinary space and low enough for the two metre barriers at the coast.
If you have been comparing motorhome hire or RV rental in Lisbon, ours are the compact alternative: easier to park in the city, cheaper on fuel, and simple to drive on the coast roads to Sintra and Ericeira.
Starting further south instead? See campervan rental in Faro.
Which vans are free depends on your dates, so check availability for your trip. See the whole fleet.
Approximate drive times from the van:
Two directions work well from here: north up the coast to Ericeira, Peniche and Nazarรฉ, or south to Arrรกbida, Comporta and the Alentejo. Both start within the first hour.
Nearly five hundred reviews across Google, Yescapa and Airbnb, from both of our bases.
Parque Comรฉrcio e Indรบstria, Armazรฉm 11, EN Estrada do Pau Queimado 5, 2870-100 Montijo. That is on the south bank of the Tagus, across the Vasco da Gama bridge, about 30 minutes from Lisbon Airport by taxi, Bolt or Uber, usually โฌ20 to โฌ25, and around 25 minutes from the city centre.
We say Montijo rather than Lisbon on purpose. You should know about the river before you plan your first day, not after you land.
Yes, in both directions, subject to availability. The one-way fee is โฌ300. It covers bringing the van back to its home base.
If you have ten days or more it is worth it: you drive the country once instead of doubling back, and you finish where you actually want to finish.
It is the more varied of our two bases. Within an hour you can be in a UNESCO forest at Sintra, on a World Surfing Reserve at Ericeira, or on the clear water of the Arrรกbida coast. Add a city day before you leave and you have three quite different things in the first 48 hours.
Faro is the better choice if you mainly want beaches and dependable sun. Lisbon is the better choice if you want range.
There are several camper-friendly areas along the coast and in the surrounding regions. Portugal has clear regulations regarding overnight stays, and weโre happy to provide guidance before your trip.
Youโll need a valid driving licence, identification (passport or ID card) and a credit card for the security deposit. Full details will be provided in your booking confirmation.
You collect the van anyway. At weekends and for late arrivals Montijo is self check-in: we send you the location, how to get in, a walkthrough video and our number in advance. There is no counter to reach before it closes.
